Today the Oklahomans for the Arts releases the first Arts and Culture Survey, which was mailed to 192 candidates for Oklahoma Senate or House of Representatives.

In several cases, the respondents will face off in next week’s primary runoffs (August 26, 2014). Many more will be on the ballot for the November 4 statewide general election.

Just fewer than 23% of those surveyed responded, totaling 45 replies. We hope to increase the response rate in the future, but are pleased to report the results. Many candidates or newly elected officials sent thoughtful responses showing their arts-friendly policies.

The Summary Version includes only the multiple choice responses. This Full Detailed Response Version includes the detailed comments from the candidates. [files updated 9/24/14]

Survey responses on arts participation and support in the past year.

Please thank those legislators that took the time to reply and offer your appreciation if they support arts and culture. We must continue to educate all our elected officials and candidates about how investments in arts and culture improve our state.
