ON ALERT: NORMAN ARTS ROUNDTABLE LEGISLATIVE FORUM

The Norman Arts & Humanities Roundtable hosted their Legislative Forum on January 11, 2017. The Norman legislators raised short term concerns for state support for the arts and longer term tips for advocacy.

The local arts sector has hosted this forum almost annually for 30 years according to chair Norman Hammond. The Roundtable brings together leaders from most of the area’s arts and culture organizations for regular strategizing, networking and advocacy. Norman Arts Council coordinates the group.

50 STORIES 50 YEARS: THE PIONEER LIBRARY SYSTEM

The Oklahoma Arts Council’s support of the Pioneer Library System (PLS) has allowed PLS to connect patrons from across central Oklahoma with creative avenues for lifelong learning through the Summer Reading and Summer Arts Expression programs.

The Summer Arts Expression Program brings touring artists to library branches in cities as diverse as Blanchard, Shawnee, and Oklahoma City and forms the cornerstone of the Summer Reading Program.
